Welcome Back To School Parents! 

It’s an exciting and busy week at Central School and the PTO wants to keep you informed and involved as we start the new year.

There are a few events this week you need to know:

Tuesday August 26th  6:30 – 8pm   – PTO Meeting in the TILE room    Free Child Care will be provided in the gym! 

Please join us and help make Central a wonderful place for our kids.  We organize and hold events throughout the year and need plenty of volunteers to help at every level.

Wednesday  August 27th – 1st day for Kindergartners

Kindergarten Parents are invited to the TILE room for the Boo Hoo Breakfast at 9am or the Tearful Tea at 1pm

Thursday  August 28th  6:30 – 7:30pm  Curriculum Night for Grades 3-5  

Parents and guardians of students in grades 3-5 are asked to attend to go over curriculum for the year

2014-15 Central School Supply Lists

It’s that time to be thinking about Back To School preparations.  In case you can’t find your child(ren)’s classroom supply lists, I have posted them below.

Mrs. Krueger will be sending out letters with teacher assignments soon.  

Don’t forget the first day of school is Monday, August 25th

Mrs. Krueger and the Central School Staff will hold their annual Meet & Greet on Thursday, August 21st from 1:30 – 3pm. 

You are welcome to bring your supplies then and meet your child’s teacher that day.   

The PTO would also love help assembling backpacks for the Central Backpack Drive during the Meet & Greet at 1:30pm on August 21st.   

We are still accepting donations for backpacks and supplies.  $20 covers the cost of one brand new backpack filled with supplies.

Donations are due by Friday, August 15th. 



Lend a helping hand for Central School students

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer!

The first day of school is still more than a month away but the Central PTO is preparing for one of our most special events of the year and we could use your help!

Can you help make sure that all children in need in our school and district have a new backpack with supplies for the 2014-15 school year?

Your gift of $20 will provide a backpack filled with school supplies for a child at Central School or in District 62.

Reminder: PTO Meeting Tomorrow

Just a reminder that tomorrow night will be the final Central PTO meeting of the year.   

Please join us as we discuss some final projects and dates for the end of the year.

We will also hold elections to fill a couple of Executive Board positions.

And we will continue the discussion of being a PTO versus a PTA and what is best for our organization.

Join us Tuesday  in the TILE room at 6:30pm

Central Dine and Share Tomorrow

It’s time for another Central Dine and Share!

Tomorrow (Thursday) May 15th

No flyer needed! They will donate 25% of all sales between 5-8pm to the Central PTO

They have been so kind to hold another one for us since the day of the last Dine and Share was so cold, there was not a large turnout. So please stop by and grab some dinner if you can! Share this with your friends and family too!

Book Fair

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Central next week. 

The Book Fair will be open Monday – Friday from 8:30 – 9am  and 3:30 – 4pm.

Please help support Central and check it out!   It’s always a favorite of the kids.

Colleen Gillespie is looking for some volunteers to help man the cash registers each day before and after school.   It’s an easy job, so don’t be afraid to help out if you are available.

Don’t miss The Strut tonight!

Got your walking shoes ready? 

Don’t forget – The Strut is tonight -Rain or Shine – from 5:30 – 7 pm at Central. 
Everyone is invited!

Healthy sandwiches and drinks will be for sale and there will also be music and a great Silent Auction with some fun things up for the bidding. So don’t forget to bring your check book!

This is a fun event for the entire school and benefits the Central School PTO.

Also, the Open House has been rescheduled for tonight due to last night’s cancellation.



Central School Reminders

It’s a busy week at Central School! 

Please don’t forget to turn in the Strut forms by tomorrow (Wednesday).  The Central School Strut is the PTO’s biggest fundraiser of the year and we anticipate a great event for everyone.   Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!   The top fundraiser will win a Samsung Galaxy Tab 3

And don’t forget to come this Friday  - everyone is welcome and invited!   Bring your family, friends and neighbors!

Central School Strut

Friday, May 2nd 

5:30 – 7 pm 

Central School

If it rains, the outdoor activities will be moved indoors.

We will have a Silent Auction and raffles as well!   Food (sandwiches, chips and fruit) will be available for sale.


Thursday, May 1st is the Open House and Ice Cream Social 

6:30 – 8pm  

All parents and students are invited to Central to visit classrooms and check out what students have been doing throughout the year!

Ice cream will be served in the gym.

Next week is Faculty Appreciation Week at Central School

Extra cash for Central School

Don’t forget we are always collecting Box Tops and Labels for Education.  

Keep your eyes open for the little labels on your food items and be sure to ask your family, friends and neighbors to collect them as well.

Every year, the PTO turns those little labels into hundreds of dollars in cash and supplies for Central.

They can be dropped off in the office.

A Big Thank You!

Thank you to all of the parents who came out and supported Central School at the Parents Night Out fundraiser Friday night.   It was a fun evening and a great chance for parents to meet and socialize.   A special thanks to all of the organizers who put alot of time and effort into the planning.   Great job ladies!

All of the money raised will go toward our kids, the Central teachers and their activities.

Now mark your calendars for the Annual Strut – Friday, May 2nd – 5:30 -8pm at Central

Don’t miss Parents Night Out this Friday night!!

Hello Parents,

This Friday is our Parent Night Out Fundraiser.  It’s a chance for parents to get out and have some fun and meet some of the other Central parents. To date we have 22 couples. 

There will be a DJ, Silent Auction, 50/50 raffles, pizza, salad, beer and wine and lots of fun!!!  It’s not too late to buy your ticket or come on Friday and pay at the door.  Tickets: $30/each   or $50/couple

Funds raised will benefit all students and be used towards school technology, field trips, cultural arts assemblies, classroom supplies, educational magazines, back pack/school supplies drive (our backpack drive also helps children in need from other area schools) and so much more!  It is all for our children!!

 We have lots of great items for our auction!!

Deadline to get your tickets is this Friday, February 28th!

Tickets will be sold at Friday’s Pizza Bingo Night.   You can pay with cash or a check made out to Central PTO.

Pizza Bingo Night at Central

Pizza Bingo Night is this Friday, February 28th   6:30- 8pm

Please be sure to turn in your pizza order form to the school office by Wednesday.   No late orders will be taken!

Each pizza is $5 . Slices will be sold for $1  Friday night. 

This is a family event and children cannot be dropped off.  They must be accompanied by a parent. 

The PTO will also hold a bake sale at the event.   If you can make something to contribute, please drop it off in the office during the school day or bring it to the Bake Sale table Friday evening.

Prizes for the Bingo games will be books.  If you have any books you’d like to  donate, you can drop them in collection bins in the front lobby.

February Dine and Share

Hi parents –

We will have another Dine & Share event next week.
Panera Bread in Metropolitan Square has been so kind to host the event this month.

A percentage of all sales during our time slot will be donated back to the Central PTO. Please support a local business that is willing to support our kids!

Mark it on your calendar and take a night off in your kitchen! How about a nice warm bread bowl of soup?

You will need to bring the attached flyer with you in order for us to get the money from your purchase.  Feel free to share with your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers!  Flyers will also go home with students soon.

Keep on reading! Six Flags Great America reading logs due soon!

Just a reminder the Six Flags Read To Succeed reading logs are due next Wednesday, February 26th.

Completed logs must be turned in for a student to receive their free ticket to Great America.  Tickets will be distributed at the end of the school year.
